How and when will I get my uniform?

Measurements are taken by volunteer parents who can assist you in getting your uniform.  A signed uniform loan contract and the non-refundable fee of $35.00 will be given to each student and then uniforms will be distributed. * Anyone not able to pay the fee due to hardship, should notify Dr. Jaffurs privately as soon as possible to discuss options.

Performing Events

Since choir class is curricular, and sports or clubs are extra-curricular, there should be no conflicts between a choir performance and a sporting event. However, sometimes a sporting event is scheduled when there is choir event.

POLICY:
#1.       When a conflict occurs between a competition/performance and a scheduled practice, students are expected to attend the competition/performance without penalty in either group.

#2.       When a conflict occurs between scheduled practices, the student may choose to attend either activity, or both activities, without penalty. A two week advance notice is needed for this policy.
However…frequent absences from practices from either activity may affect a student’s standing within either group.

#3.       When a conflict occurs between competitions and performances, the student is expected to make every attempt to make both, equally. A two week advance notice is needed for this policy.

What happens when I am absent from a concert or event?

If absence is excused: 50% credit, with the option of making up the remainder by arrangement with Dr. Jaffurs. (Make-up work example: watching video of concert, writing a written (2-3 pg.) review, and a 3-4 pg. paper on a composer’s work). Excused absence from a concert must be submitted to Dr. Jaffurs in writing two weeks prior to the performance date. Excused absences are granted on an individual basis at the discretion of the director, after consulting with the student and the parent.

For emergencies or illness for a performance, use the following procedure: the parent of the student calls Dr. Jaffurs before the concert. A written excuse from the parent must be submitted the day the student returns to school after the performance date.

If absence is unexcused: 1st time: No credit points or make-up . 2nd time: No credit points, loss of performance privilege, and possible drop from the choral program.

Please note:

1. Full credit for performances requires attendance for the entire warm-up and concert performance. Requests for arriving late or leaving early must be submitted in writing two weeks prior to the date of performance.

2. It is assumed by the North Farmington High School Choral Department that taking choir class involves after school performances. Please arrange work and vacation schedules so they do not conflict with performance dates.
